Introduction

We can’t always be there to solve every problem for our children. In fact, this isn’t our job. Our job is to teach them how to solve problems themselves. By helping children find their own answers and solutions, we are empowering them to feel confident in their abilities and able to cope in their world.  This way, they can become confident, independent, and successful individuals.

EGGS IN BASKETS

There are three baskets, a brown one, a red one and a green one.  They are holding a total of ten eggs.

  • The Brown basket has one more egg in it than the Red basket.

  • The Red basket has three fewer eggs than the Green basket.

  • How many eggs are in each basket?

Getting Started…

  • You could start by imagining that the brown basket has one egg in it. How many would be in the red and green baskets?

  • Try other numbers of eggs in the brown basket.

  • You might find it helpful to draw pictures or jot some things down on paper.
